May 26, 2020: With heavy hearts, the Calumet Region Striders board members made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 Gold Cup Season. During the Covid-19 pandemic, racing events have been cancelled due to public safety concerns. As the season has progressed, we as a board, realized a Gold Cup season would not be possible.
All Gold Cup fees will automatically be deferred to the 2021 season. Regularly scheduled membership dues will still need to be paid for the 2021 season. The membership dues for 2020 that were paid go towards the 100 mile club awards and a club gathering when it is safe to do so.
Calumet Region Striders board members are not the race directors of these events; we have no control over the races in terms of cancellations. We also want to stress that not every race that was on the Gold Cup schedule is cancelled as of this date. We still urge our members to support the races that are still taking place in late summer/early fall.
This was a decision we did not want to have to make but it was for the best in terms of safety of our members, the logistics and planning of these events, and keeping with the traditions of the Gold Cup season.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon when it is safe to do so!

March 31, 2020: The current COVID-19 pandemic is impacting running events around the globe. At this point, several races have been postponed, cancelled, or converted to virtual races. We will continue to post updates for cancelled or rescheduled Gold Cup races via Facebook and this website.
At this time, it’s too early to tell if an adjustment needs to be made to the number of required races for the Gold Cup Series. We will make decisions as necessary if a rescheduled Gold Cup race conflicts with a currently scheduled Gold Cup race.
Please note that virtual races will not be scored for Gold Cup or Elite Series points.
